Junior colleges have handed over to the state government nearly 54,000 seats from their minority and in-house quotas.
Over two lakh first-year junior college aspirants from the Mumbai region are looking forward to the first merit list which will be declared by the Education Department on Monday at 5 pm.
If two students have scored the same marks, the one who is older will get a higher rank on the general merit list, said the official.
